Whitman & Hanson Dollars for Scholars is a local chapter of Scholarship America. Scholarship America was founded in 1959 by Dr. Irving A. Fradkin in Fall River, Massachusetts under the name Citizens' Scholarship Foundation. The Whitman & Hanson chapter was established in the fall of 1962 by residents who wished to assist graduating high school seniors further their education. Community volunteers raise scholarship funds for graduating Whitman and Hanson high school seniors.
To be eligible for a scholarship awarded by our chapter a student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, must live in Whitman or Hanson or attend Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and be graduating from any public or private high school. Scholarships are awarded on a merit-based system. All eligible students are encouraged to apply.
