If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), a special charitable gift that allows donations to be transferred directly from your retirement account to a qualified charity.
QCDs can be especially valuable for retirees looking for a more tax-efficient way to support causes they care about. In addition, individuals are required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from certain retirement accounts beginning at age 73. By donating all or part of your RMD directly through a QCD, you may satisfy your RMD requirement while potentially reducing your taxable income.
A Qualified Charitable Distribution can be a meaningful way to support MV Dollars for Scholars while also helping you achieve your financial and philanthropic goals.
If you are interested in learning more about donating directly from your retirement investments to MV Dollars for Scholars, please contact Keith Kramer, VP of Donor Relations, or consult with your investment advisor to determine whether a QCD is right for you.
