Windham Area Dollars for Scholars  provides merit and financial needs-based scholarships for students graduating from Windham High School, high school seniors who live in Windham, Ct. graduating from any high school, and Columbia residents who are graduating from ACT, Windham Tech, or E.O. Smith High School.  Home-schooled students who live in Windham or Columbia are also eligible. (If you live in Columbia, please put Windham Public Schools as your district.) You can apply for a Windham Area Dollars for Scholars scholarship for spring 2024 beginning on January 2, 2024.  You can start a profile now. Additional scholarships will become available this spring as donations are received.  Remember to check back often to see if you have matched to new scholarships.

The deadline to apply for Windham Area Dollars for Scholars scholarships is April 30, 2024. The deadline to request transcripts and references is April 15, 2024.If you are applying for a scholarship based on financial need, you must upload  your Financial Aid Letter when you receive it from the college you choose to attend.

We have changed our Scholarship Award Policy for 2024.  The minimum scholarship award will be increased to $1000.  It is important to understand that not all students who apply will be awarded a scholarship.  Scholarship awards are decided by merit (academics, activities, work, goals, reference) and financial need. Be sure to complete all parts of the application and upload your financial aid letter from your college.

We have also decided that we will not award scholarships to students attending a program/college that displaces their own financial aid when outside scholarships are awarded.  For example, Ct State Community College (and all its branches) do displace aid from the PACT program, unless you have a Federal Pell Grant or other Federal funding that covers all of your tuition and fees.  Luckily, UConn and the Ct. State Universities and many other schools do not displace financial aid.
