A Quality Education. It's the key to succeeding in an increasingly complex world. But many deserving and smart students at Brushton-Moira Central find the door to higher education closed. Rising costs, dwindling financial aid, and fewer scholarships have conspired to derail their aspirations.
Brushton-Moira Dollars for Scholars was established by a group of motivated community volunteers in April 2011 to provide financial resources for Brushton-Moira high school students who want to continue their education. Our chapter is conceived around a simple idea: together we can step in and help local students achieve their educational goals. There's no greater gift we can give our student neighbors-in-need than access to the tools to create a brighter future. Doing so tells them that we take pride in their determination and share their dreams.
We grew quickly and are proud to report that we awarded our Chapter's first scholarships (in just two months after we formed) to the BMC graduating class of 2011 - more quickly than any other Dollars for Scholars chapter in history. This is a testament to the dedication of our officers and volunteers and the generosity and vision of our patrons and benefactors. Together we continue to grow and look ahead to the future of our students.
Our Mission
Brushton-Moira Dollars for Scholars has a single mission: to mobilize our community to support local students who might otherwise miss the chance to pursue education beyond high school. Think about it...When was the last time someone asked you to help so local students might pursue their education dreams? If you are like us, probably rarely, if ever.
Many schools and towns in our area have community scholarship foundations that raise awareness and funds for the scholarship effort. Brushton-Moira Central did not have one - until now. Brushton-Moira Dollars for Scholars is the only organization in the Brushton-Moira Central School District devoted solely to scholarships.
